Expansion of the Vals/Valles district heating plant, Mühlbach
Project description
The Energieversorgung Vals GmbH company intended to install a cogeneration plant for the production of electrical energy and heat based on the gasification of wood. The necessary new facilities for this were installed in a one-story, ground-level add-on on the south and west side of the existent district heating plant.
The outer facades consisted of exposed concrete and, in part, open wood lagging and match the existent structure in appearance.

For optimal energy generation, a modular wood gasification cogeneration plant with a rated capacity of 296 kW as well as a buffer storage unit with a capacity of 80,000 liters were installed. The cogeneration plant's thermal output of 550 kW is fed into the existent district heating network.
