Mid-Pusteria Valley residential and care facility, Bruneck / Brunico
Project description
This project encompasses the reconstruction of the existent senior care home and the new construction of the care facility in the form of a compact unit for modern care services. The design calls for a three-story structure whose shape takes into account the spatial constraints of an urban setting / the size of the parcel of land. By means of setbacks and incisions in the construction volume, an inviting lobby / reception area and a protected courtyard were achieved.
Structural engineering: Steel-reinforced concrete skeleton design; unbounded pre-stressed flat ceilings. The ceiling above the basement floor is designed as a girder grid for the ground level story; this is because it was not practicable to continue the narrow-spaced, regular supports upward from the underground parking garage.
