Avalanche protection gallery in Oberlappach / Sopra Lappago, Mühlwald / Selva dei Molini

The Provincial Highway LS 156 from Mühlwald to Lappach crosses the stream Rinsbach between Lappach and Oberlappach. In the valley formed by the stream, there are frequent avalanches during the winter months which cut off the village of Oberlappach – but also the Neves reservoir farther in the valley – from the outside world. In the summertime, landslides at the stream crossing have often blocked the road. To improve this situation improve this situation and especially with a view towards ensuring continual accessibility to the Neves reservoir, an avalanche protection gallery is to be established here. Planning was accompanied by an avalanche study. Based on this study, it was possible to optimize the course of the gallery and of the connecting segments. The avalanche risk for nearby structures was also estimated to improve their safety.
