Bicycle station for the Lanz company, Naz-Sciaves
Project description
In the context of the expansion of the bicycle trails and associated network of rest-stops in South Tyrol, a bicycle station in connection with the already-existent fruit selling facility of the Lanz company was installed at the entrance gate to the Pustertal / Pusteria Valley. The flat body of the structure made great demands with regards to static rigidity and construction planning. The extremely steep sides of the excavation pit in a loose geological matrix were secured by installing a nail wall. The entire structure reaches into the slope, and was built with steel-reinforced concrete in order to withstand the massive earth pressure. The staff apartment has an impressive appearance and was added to the solid constructional component in the slope. The bar-shaped design is completely light-weight in wood and nicely underscores the shimmering white structure with the window soffit in the signal color (red) of the Lanz company, which is thus visible as a landmark for miles.
