Project description

The planning task was to create suitable facilities for the German Technical College for Fruit, Wine, and Horticulture, the Italian Technical College for Agriculture, the Laimburg Research Center, the Free University of Bozen / Bolzano, and the Laimburg Estate Management. The structure has a foundation of loose rock with different strength and deformation characteristics. The parcel is situated in the archeologically most-sensitive zone of South Tyrol. The foundation was designed in agreement with the Archeological Monuments Agency and took into consideration the anthropological relevance of the site. The rock was removed by blasting with accompanying monitoring; 140-meter-long jointless steel-reinforced concrete design; unbounded pre-stressed flat roofs with a max. span of 15 meters; double-shelled monolithic exterior wall construction with cavity insulation; exposed concrete with worked surface.
