Nord-West bypass for Meran / Merano, construction stage 1, Meran / Merano

The north-west bypass for Merano is expected to greatly reduce the traffic load. This is especially due to the fact that the bypass will serve both as a bypass for traffic from the Passeier / Passiria Valley and as a connection between the city of Merano and the MeBo Expressway. Besides that, it will serve as an intra-municipal connection from Obermais / Maia Alta in the direction of the train station, mobility center, and district hospital.
The future NW bypass will make a mostly underground detour around the city of Merano. Construction stage 1 begins in the west of the city in the Algund /Lagundo district with the new connection of the Passeier Road to the MeBo Expressway (roundabout underneath the MeBo bridge). From there, the bypass continues as a "cut-and-cover" tunnel up to the area of the train station, with connection to the roadways of the city of Merano and – together with the mobility center – to an underground parking garage. The second construction stage of the bypass begins at the train station.
