Project description

In our province, with its mountain morphology and many valleys, tunnels allow us to have safer roads than we would with an open-air network. Near the chief towns, with tunnels it is possible to bypass the inhabited centres, making them safer and nicer places to live.
Since tunnels require management and need to be safe to use 24h/24h, 365 days a year, a Safety and Maintenance Officer needs to be in place to ensure the constant monitoring and maintenance of the technical installations, as well as to make decisions after emergencies and/or breakdowns or failures. The Safety and Maintenance Officer is a technical engineer who specialises in this field and can guarantee an on-call service as well as being able to plan, coordinate and check the regular performance of maintenance and emergency interventions to the technical installations in the tunnels, including through the video surveillance system. Specifically, in more serious cases, the Safety and Maintenance Officer must be able to guarantee that s/he will be at the site within one hour.
The management framework provides for close collaboration for tunnel management on a daily basis (Karneid/Kampenn, Halbweg, Rafenstein/Goldegg, Eggerbach) with department 12.Road Service from the PAB, the video surveillance centre and the areas offices, as well as the companies appointed to perform maintenance work.
