Waste management center, Natz / Naz - Schabs / Sciaves

The waste management center in Schabs represents the central collection site and public waste disposal facility for the solid waste incurred in the Eisack / Isarco Valley district community and for some forms of waste incurred in the Wipp Valley / Alta Valle Isarco district community. The goal of this project was to construct the necessary facilities in which the incoming waste (in separate waste streams – recyclables and biowaste – as far as possible) could be collected and the residual waste minimized. The following structures had to be built: the administrative building and waste acceptance facility (plus a laboratory); solid waste center; sorting room with workshop for the handicapped; mill with transfer station for residual waste; infrastructure project. In the steel hall, recyclables are processed, and cardboard, paper, and plastics pressed. In the transfer station, the remaining residual waste is shredded and prepared for shipping. The construction activities were carried out while the site was still in operation.
